i did a 70% water change and tested the water 10min later and the ammonia level is still the same. its a 55 gallon tank with a silver arowana, red oscar, and a red tail catfish. they’re all babies and same size. i siphoned everything out of the gravel and the ammonia level is still the same! help!!
Help with breeding my discus please!!!?
Ok so i’ve got a breeding pair i’ve had them seperated from the other fish for a week and have got the water perfect temperature and perfect ph level, they have a great diet. Just wondering why they wont lay.
They also have been doing weird behaviour like their long thin fins on their bellies what they will do is like flick it a couple times, they also spread their top and bottom fins out, i was wondering is that mating behaviour? Also if it’s not what mating behaviour they will do before laying. Thanks for your replys.
Thanks
P.S Will they lay during the day or night?
Fresh Water Compatibility?
I have a 55 Gallon Fresh water fish tank with a cover.
I would like to mix these fish:
*Suckermouth Catfish (1 or 2 they always seem to be loved by all fish)
*Siamese Fighting Fish (1 small Bette due to its semi-aggressiveness)
*Silver Sharks (3 large-sized fish to travel safely as a pack for protection)
*Rainbow Shark (1 smaller in size due to semi-aggressiveness)
whats up wit my tank?
i have a 38 gallon aquarium. i had it set up and running for 24 hours before i added fish. i added the water conditioner and done what i was supposed to. i also bought 2 dragon gobies, 2 pictus catfish, 2 bala sharks, and 3 silver dollars. all of these fish have died. some died a day or two after i put them in and some survived for a week or two. their fins would get all torn up and have big gray blotches on them before they died. idk what to do or whats wrong with my tank????? any suggestions?
Is this water safe for a Betta?
I’m looking to get a Siamese Fighting Fish on my desk at work. The tank it’ll be in is aprox 10L and will be refilled with water from our water dispenser in the office. I know this is chilled so the water will be sitting for a day before being poured in to ensure it’s a room temperature.
AFAIK the PH level is perfect but I’m not sure on the others. I don’t know whether chloride is chlorine or what..? Lol
Anyway.. It’ll be the fish on it’s own, a small plant and nothing else.
Calcium 117,5 mg/l
Magnesium 1,9 mg/l
Potassium 1,3 mg/l
Sodium 9,7 mg/l
Chloride 18,0 mg/l
Sulphate 8,0 mg/l
pH 7,6
Thanks,
Matt.
Kate – Thanks I’ll have a look at that.
Wolf – Yeah good idea, I’ll do that!
Cat – Yes it does but to be honest… I wouldn’t even drink from it lol. I know a fish is more than a decoration but it’s something I feel would be a nice addition. I have both coldwater and tropical fish at home and have done for years, I’ve just never used water like this.
I’ve read a lot on these fish and know that it can survive with water changes alone in a smaller tank. I had one in a smaller tank for a while and it seemed happy. Was always moving about and didn’t hesitate to eat food or anything.
