Tapeworms in Turtles?
My friend has a “soft shell snapping turtle”, it ‘s shell length is about 9in. long and length of neck with head is about 6 in. long when extended. It lives in an aquarium of water and eats live goldfish and Aquatic Turtle Food, and once in a while a tapeworm extends about 7 in. out of it’s rectum, shortly after it’s gone. I don’t know if it goes back in or if the turtle eats it. I have looked for remidies but can’t find for aquatic animals.Anybody know anything?
WHAT is in my tank!?
okay please help me i need an immediate response as i have prize guppies… i have 4 fancy guppies in a 20gal. i have some live plants but most diesd. a few months ago i realised something in my tank. it looked so small i could barely spot it. it was like a whitish-clearish worm less than a millimeter thick and about a quater of a cm long. i didn’t know what todo so i left it. ju8st not i was cleaning my plants in my tank, jsut brushing over them with my fingers. i found something- it’s not a fish- it’s greenish brownish. six lets. long, slender body. swims like a khulie loach, but also walks with legs. i don’t think it can survive out of water. at the end of its body it hasthe spines that work like a tail fin when it swims. it has two tiny antennna things, very very short. it has like a shell thing that goes half way down its body and then goes into a long thin stick like tail. it has tiny little spikes on the tail half. it is approx 1.5cm long. more in details….
it has eyes like a grasshoppers. please help me im panicing i want my fish to be safe one is about to drop her fry i want them to be healthy. PLEASE help me its urgent what is this?!?
i have already separated it i will take it to my pet shop 1st thing after school tomorrow. it is the only one i can see in my tank. it sounds like anchor worms, but this aint no worm! i can’t see anything on my fish. they do rub up against things like my fake anemone but this is not constant
you know what, i think this might just be a developing dragon/damselfly! i am about to set up a separate 8 gallon tank and put him in there. he’s not doing too well (2 days with no food or anything, but i have just put in a stem of elodea…) but i will try to keep him alive for now. i will grab some more live plant tomorrow for him to munch on. or trim some of mine. i haven’t got a spare filter or airator though… or even gravel… but anyways. if he lives (and is actually a dragonfly or damselfly) i will take him down to the creek about half an hour/hour away, if i can (no transport, lol). either way, i will be quarantining my plants in the future!
help me please?
jane’s aquarium contains goldfish, turtles and snails. there are 16 legs, 10 shells and 36 eyes in the aquarium. how many creatures of each type are in the aquarium? hint: snails have 2 eyes 1 shell and 1 leg
Why are my Bettas lying on the bottom of their tanks and not eating?
I have two Siamese fighting fish, in separate 2.5 gallon tanks, who have both recently started spending most of their time at the bottom looking up. I’ve had them for about a year. Now I did add a snail to each tank about 3 weeks ago, so I’m assuming that has something to do with it. One of the snails is now missing from it’s shell and presumed dead, but the other is fine. I had one in each tank, but I moved both of them (I thought temporarily) into the same tank because my one Betta was a little bit messier. Turns out the one I moved is the one that’s now dead. He died in the tank with the other one. I had both tanks at around 78 degrees, so I don’t think temperature is the issue for the Bettas. I have the fish in the containers I purchased them in with new water at a controlled temp, but still no change in behavior. The fish never even raised an eyebrow at the snails, so it’s not that they were bothered by the addition of them. My hyper guy never even looked at his new roomie, and my mellow bud just watched him for about 10 seconds and went on his way. The fish started their newest behavior before the snail stopped touring the tank. My other snail is still in the tank and alive. Could it be that the one snail that died came from the pet store tainted and contaminated both tanks before dying? If so, what could they have, how do I tell, and what can I do to save them?
Thanks so much in advance
My aquarium snail died. What caused its death?
I was quite attached to the little fella. Now all that is left is an empty shell. What could have caused it to die?
