will a red tip shark live in a 10 gallon tank?
i have a 10 gallon aquarium, and I would like to get a Red Tip shark or two. Will they live fine? What would be a good tank compainion with them?
I need to identify this fish I saw!?
I saw this fish in the pet store that looked like a cross between angelfish and cat fish, or shark even??, and might have been a cichlid…I don’t know!! THe fish was a very deep black color, with very white spots. It was in a freshwater tank. I have looked through THOUSANDS of pictures to no avail, please help!!!
“The first is Agamyxis pectifrons, a catfish from South America. The second fish I thought of is Paratilapia polleni, a Cichlid fish from Madagascar.”
These fish are similar, however, it almost seemed like this fish was outlined in white.
silver-tipped sharkes are saltwater fish?!?!?
I have a silver-tipped shark in my 125 gal tank w/a number of other freshwater fish including: a rope fish, 4 angelfish, 6 giant danios, medium albino butterfly pleco, albino channel cat (for now), and a catfish that has only a Latin name syndondis…. multiplicatius.. I think (spelling wrong)? the silver-tipped shark is the smallest fish right now except the Latin catfish and the ropefish, but they usually hide out of reach and are not bothered by the silver-tipped. He is about 3 inches long. I use aquarium salt and the ph is 8.4 or more. Is he going to survive in freshwater, and if he won’t be able to live happily in a freshwater aquarium, at what size should I get take him to a pet shop; will they even take a large shark? I‘ve never seen large ones before in any pet shops. I really like him and don’t want to get rid of him if I don’t have to, but I can’t get a saltwater tank.
Here’s why I was prompted to ask this question.

Probably not – these prefer strong water current, so if the water isn’t moving as fast as they’d like, they move instead. They should also be kept in brackish water (at least as juveniles), them gradually moved up to saltwater as adults. And as the previous answer already said, they’re schooling when young. I’d be very cautious about what you’re keeping them with as well – they’re predatory and they’ll eat fish they can fit in their mouth. http://www.fishlore.com/profile-columbia…

Seymour Butts, it’s not a real shark, it’s in the catfish family i believe. they just look like sharks so that’s what they are called.
How soon after a 50% water change can I add new fish? Are particles safe for fish during gravel cleaning?
I have a 55 gallon with 3 2″ cichlids, 1 6″ jack demsey, an algae eater, and a narrow black fish, don’t know what it is but he has a hammerhead and my son calls him a shark, but he’s not the typical silver type mini shark. He’s 5″ –> anyone know what he might be called?.
I have few fish & I haven’t done a water change in quite a while — about 10 months. We have very hard water so I know the water gets harder if you don’t do water changes and just keep topping off the tank, however, all of the fish were happy anyway & I had no fatalities.
(1) I did a half tank water change 2 days ago. How soon can I add new fish?
(2) While vacuumming the gravel, as you can imagine, tons of particles fog the tank during my cleaning. I felt really bad. Is this bad for this fish? Is it hard for them to breathe?
(3) Is it normal for fish to open and close there mouth inside the tank? I never noticed but am nervous
(4) Can I add Oscars to my cichlid/jjack demsey tank?
We have hard well water. (no chlorine)
