I’ve had my platys for about 4 weeks now. 2 female Mickey Mouse and 2 male sunburst. Now, I didn’t know how to tell the difference in male & female when I first bought them, and Petsmart failed to mention it too. One of my females is pregnant, and I really don’t want to deal with fry. My tank is only 30 gallons, and besides the 4 platys, I have 2 black mollies and 2 small catfish. Will the babies get eaten as soon as they’re born? I think that’s cruel, but I don’t know what else to do. I wasn’t expecting this and am new to the aquarium hobby… Do I need to get rid of my male platys? I really don’t want to get rid of any of them….

that I can have in there? I would like to add a couple of more small topical fish. I currently have a small Cory catfish on the bottom, a Dalmatian Molly and a Platy. Can I add more and if so, what is a good fish to add?

2 weeks ago my very active platy started to loose a bit of colour (but not much and only on top), then he just layed on the bottom and swim around once in a while, but with a lot of effort. He did continue eating until he died. Now my loach is doing the same. I did clean the tack after the platy died. I can’t see any signs of a fungal infection. What’s wrong?

My new Dojo Loach (for those of you that know the musician Bela Fleck, I got 2 of them, the one has black dots on it so I named him Fleck and the one in the video is Bela). None of the other fish are named, but I guess now my aquarium can be called “Bela, Fleck, and the Flecktones” (the Flecktones, instead of the backup band, being the backup fish This is my 55 gallon.

I may be getting a 10 gal soon, so how would be the best way to decorate it? Do they prefer lots of vegetation, or empty space to swim? Show pics please.
