my neighbour has a huge pond full of Goldfish and Koi…some which are very big…now i must admit im a bit partial to a nice piece of fish….if i caught a couple i`m sure he wouldn`t notice….

First, I’ve searched the Yahoo!Answers, and found out one reply for ‘jackanape’, but it seems not the answer which I want. The following is the sentence “Every time I listened to some jackanape at Koi go on about how his Milan photo shoot just hadn’t panned out yet, I’d think about what I’d left behind.”

Second, ‘odds-defying feat’ seems to be a common usage, can anyone give me a more detailed description of it? The sentence is “Even if, through some odds-defying feat of diplomacy, I managed to win him back.”

Both sentences are from the novel “My Favorite Mistake”.

I have a sarassa comet in a 55 gal tank with two comets and two koi. The sarassa has a sore on its side. I thought maybe it got it from a decoration since it is the only one. I medicated with melafix, but have not seen any differnce, not worse or better. Any suggestions on other treatments?

Very privileged today to have had the opportunity to visit a very special pond. Not one that is huge, nor one that focuses too much on visual aesthetics, but one with SUPERB polished living water for koi. Total tonnage is 47 tonnes, of which one third is in the up-down chamber filter which is complemented by a complex external filtration system reminiscent of a petrochemical plant. TDO levels are raised above saturation levels by cavitation technology and temperature is maintained at about 25C by a chiller. The pond is only 3 feet deep and is run on a straight flow system with water returns at one end of the pond and skimmers and all bottom drains at the opposite end. 25 jumbos (including ginrins and doitsus) are currently housed in this pond, the flagship pond out of 4 koi ponds located at these premises. Almost all of them are in the 80-95cm range. The owner is highly respected in the koi circuit, even in Japan, and also has an impressive arowana collection as well as sting rays and other fresh water creatures, all of which are treated with music therapy!!
