Flowerhorn Cichlid Spooked in tank; swimming around recklessly damaging themselves?
I HAVE A PAIR OF FLOWERHORN CICHLIDS THAT I BOUGHT ABOUT THREE DAYS AGO. DAY ONE AND TWO THEY WERE FINE, DAY THREE THEY STARTED SWIMMMING AROUND RECKLESSLY WHEN EVER THERE WAS MOVEMENT IN THE ROOM. I HAVEN’T CHECK MAY WATER LEVELS NOR AM I SURE OF THE WATER TEMP. I DID ADD CRUSH CORAL TO THE GRAVEL TO INCREASE THE PH. UPON MAY READING I FOUND THAT A HIGHER PH HELPS DEVELOPE THE NUCHUAL (SPELLING) HUMP. WHAT STEPS DO I NEED TO TAKE IN ORDER TO SAVE MY FISH
Need help setting up a discus tank…..?
I have a 40 gal tank that currently has river rock gravel, lots of fake plants and 2 large pieces of driftwood. I am using a marineland 400 filter which is rated for a tank twice the size and has 2 bio wheels with one of those being already established froma previous tank . I am currently have 3 corys and a pleco in the tank because I am still trying to figure out the “focal point” fish. I will be adding a peat moss bag to the filtration to help with the hardness which is slightly high and also a heater since my tank is at 80 degrees right now. I am looking for any other suggestions on set up before the fish and the recommended amount of juvenile discus (I was thinking 2-3). My main problem is I am getting conflicting information on the care from tank set up to parameters. Also I am not interested in breeding them Thanks
What other fish could I add to my 10 gallon aquarium?
I have 1 Betta Fish, 3 Cory Catfish, and 5 Neon Tetras. My tank accessories include a heater, filter, small thermometer, and an air stone. My ornaments include 3 fake plants and 1 rock set-up. I also have gravel in.
I’ve had my tank for about 3 weeks now and its still in the cycling process.
Here are the average measurements for each species:
• Betta fish – up to 3 inches
• Cory Catfish – up to 3.5 inches
• Neon Tetras – up to 2 inches
If you were to use the 1 inch per gal. rule, I’d be exceeding that limit (total would be about 23-24 inches), but you have to keep in mind that they’re fish that don’t grow that big.
All of my fish seem like they’re happy and have plenty of space to move around. Any suggestions would help, but I mainly want to know if I can put anymore fish in. If so what kind of fish? Thanks to all that answer!
What type of plants can I add and how can I anchor them?
Never heard of that rule, klingon
Need expert help on flowerhorn cichlid problem?
I need some help from experts. I have purchased a juvenile flowerhorn and have kept it in my new 200 litre tank, planted. For 2 days the fish was ok, and then it started rubbing itself in the gravel, increasing the frequency. I supposed it was fluke so gave the water some fluke treatment. Since yesterday, the fish has stopped rubbing itself on the gravel, but has settled on the bottom of the tank, still upright, but with very less movement. It is still eating allright. I changed the water temperature to 29 degrees..no more medications..
After turning up the temperature, the fish is not rubbing at the gravel anymore, but is now on the surface of the water. It is not gulping for air, but is in the water surface and slightly tilted on its balance, sort of trying to keep its balance..seems like a new symptom..?
