What’s wrong with our freshwater aquarium bubblemaker?
After a couple of months the bubblewand seems to start to fail. The # & size of bubbles drop drastically. We have tried different company & types of bubblewands and it still happens. We have replaced the air pump. We have replaced the airline tubing. Is this a common or even expected problem? Is there anything we can do to prevent it? Please offer your expertise!
I have a 20 gallon community freshwater tank w/ 5 guppies, 2 platies, and a dwarf gourami. Cani fit some neons
I have a 20 gallon community freshwater aquarium which houses 5 guppies, 2 platies, and a dwarf gourami, oh, and one otocinclus. Could I still fit a mini school of 6 neon tetras in there?? I have an air stone and a filter, but I may be getting a new filter sometime, onne of teh aqua clear 30 gallon filters. My water temp. is about 79 constant. Can I fit some more neons, and if so, how many would you reccomend?
Can a Red Crab or a Fiddler Crab live in water all the time, or do they NEED land to live on.?
I am going to but a crab for my freshwater aquarium and I need to know if a Fiddler or Red Crab can live underwater all the time. A simple answer will do, though I would like somthing a bit more descriptive.
Tap water filter for large freshwater aquarium.?
Since the weather has turned crappy here in Pennsylvania, the water treatment plant has been sending really crappy water to my house. It smells and tastes strange, and I could swear that there’s some sort of life form in it that’s undesirable. I have around 300 gallons of freshwater fish tanks in my house, and I would like to filter the water a little bit when it comes out of the tap.
Since i have so much water to change at once, a reverse osmosis filter seems (from what I’ve read) to be too expensive and slow for my needs.
Are any lower tech filters that are suitable for improving my water quality a little bit. I see things that have strange chlorine reducing chemical pucks in them at home depot, but that alien chemical scares me without some reassurance that the byproduct is safe for fish.
I just have huge air-breathing catfish so I don’t need to really micromanage the water quality like a salt-water enthusiast would. I just need it to not be as terrible as it is now. And I need around 150 gallons every other week in one shot.
What temperature should I keep my freshwater aquarium at?
I have swordtails, neons, catfish, frogs and a shrimp.
