My aquarium fish look like they are starving?
My one aquarium of platies (also called moons) are dieing and I don’t know what it is from. I get them and they are healthy looking with no normal signs of being sick or stressed. They have the rounded bellies (like platies have), but after a couple weeks their bellies get flat looking and when I see that, they die within a day or two. I have had fish and aquariums for years, but have never seen this. I have done several treatments of binox (broad spectrum for illness) and also had done several treatments for external and internal parasites. But they contiue to look like they are just waisting away. I feed them good quality flake food, vegetable base foods, frozen brine shrimp, frozen blood worms, and frozen tubafex worms. Also put in fresh veggies for them to eat. I give them a well varied seletion of foods. My ph and ammonia levels are fine,as is all the other levels for a good healthy aquarium. Anyone have any idea what is happening? How to stop it?
type of worms in fish tank?
I admit it has been over a year since I’ve cleaned my fish tank. I cleaned it today and noticed tiny pink worms in the water. They’re not there now I killed them out. I was just wondering what they could have been. They weren’t mosquito larvae I know what they look like and the hasn’t been any increase of insects around that I’ve noticed. I had been ocassionally feeding the fish a treat of frozen blood worms maybe that is what they could have been. If thats the case they won’t be getting any more.
Before you start berating me for not caring for my fish know ahead of time that I don’t care for them. But short of flushing them I have no way of getting rid of them. The pet stores won’t take them back and I don’t know anyone that will take them so I feed and kinda care for them till they die a natural death. So far it’s been 6 years. I’m tired of fresh water and want to start a salt tank but can’t do that till these fish die. In case your curious I have an upside down cat (6 years old), a rapheal cat (6 years old), 3 gourami (2 year olds), and a ? fish (at least 1 year old) I caught out of a creek (looks like a large guppie).
I have done a complete water change and boiled alll decor and gravel. Even steamed the tank (the steam also did wonders on the calcium build up). I checked the water my fish were in after putting them in their new tank and there were no worms. So they were living in the gravel not the surface water. I know salt tanks are more work and have had 4 years to plan. I took excelent care of my fresh tank when I cared for the fish. Although I am tired of my fish I don’t want to kill them if I did I would toss their butts outside and let the stray cats have at. And your way too far for me I live in north Alabama.
Angelfish eating only sparingly, please grateful if you could advice on what to do?
About 2 months back I bought a yellow and black medium sized angelfish. I give it a variety of food which is available in my country, white fish flakes, dried blood worms and pellets. At the begining it just refused to eat, I thought that it needed time to adjust to its new environment so I was not too worried. It did not eat for at least three weeks but then started to eat only sparingly. And also, it does not want to share it’s aquarium with any other fish be it angel fish, discus, tetras, platys. So I had to separate the other fishes. I went to complain to the store I bought it, the lady said that I change the water in my aquarium too frequently and she recommended me to give it vitamins in solution and change the water every two weeks. I also live in a tropical country and I wonder if I really need to put the heater on because it’s so hot in the place I live. Maybe the fish is stresses as it is all alone in the aquarium, I wanted to buy another angelfish to keep him company for but unfortunately I cannot find the same species. I don’t know what is the problem with my angelfish and I would be sad to lose it. Can you please advice me on what to do before it’s too late

What are the various non-live feed that can be given to an Arowana ?
I hate enjoying the scene of my fish chasing another fish to eat it up. I am a fishkeeper by hobby, so it hurts to see a fish die, even if its a feeder fish, and I have heard that an Arowana can still have very much staple diet by means of alternative feeding such as tetra arowana pellets, frozen blood worms, arowana sticks etc..
Advice from experienced fishkeepers will be highly appreciated.
