Male and Female betta with other fish?? (i gave alot of details to give you an idea of the situation)?
I have a male blue betta with 1 black molly (used to be more but the other 2 died somehow maybe the betta did it) and 4 schoolers (1 very small,2 about 2 inches, one 3 inch) a small catfish that grows to the maximum of 3 inches and a pleco that hides in a rock all day and runs in the rock everytime we get near the tank (used to be small but now hes about 5 inches) ive only seen the betta generally only mess with the molly but the molly isnt scared of him because hes constantly next to the betta(example, the betta will flare and chase the molly the molly runs then he goes back to the betta again)its something i see often now but the betta doesnt flare at the molly everytime they get close only sometimes, ive had the betta for about 4 months now and i never witnessed him killing any fish i just assume its him when we go to sleep and about 1 month ago the smallest schooler (they have long pretty fins) got his fins ripped off and just recently i thought it mght b the betta but its stil aliv
Can different fishes live in one 10 gallon tank?
i have 1 yellow molly, 2 silver molly, 1 black molly and 2 goldfish… i’m planning to put my betta (fighting fish) in the tank too… are they going to get along well?
breeding fishies…what to do with babies…?
Ok, yesterday, i bought one of those yellow mollies which is pregnant and is about to blow. In a separate tank with a filter and heater, I have 13 baby guppies. And in my big community tank i have 1 pregnant guppy and black molly…I love breeding them and seeing the babies grow. I have a 97 liter tank (about 20 gallons) and i am willing to keep some of the guppy, molly, and yellow molly babies. If a lot will survive, what could i do with them cause i can’t have like 30 babies! I dont really like giving them to petstores and none of my friends have an aquarium…what should i do with them?…i guess maybe i should put them in a GOOD petstore which actually takes care of their fish? should i? what do you think?
why do the female molly dies during pregnancy?
I purchased 2 female and 1 male black molly. One turned out to be pregnant, giving birth to 10 cute fry the next day and lay almost inactive at the bottom of aquarium. Died next morning. Why? The similar happened to my female sword tail, which died without giving birth. What extra care is required next time?
Dead fish?
My fish keep dying! I have a 20 gal freshwater tank, temp set at 78 degrees. I had some blackskirt tetras in the tank but gave them to a friend. I then bought new fish and a pleco and introduced them to the tank. My pleco is doing great, but the other fish — a silver molly, a black molly, several guppies, and two blue danios — died within 2 days.
I took a water sample to the pet store and everything was fine. The nitrates were good, the ph was good, the ammonia levels were good. The pet store told me to add a bit of salt to the tank, do 5 gallon water changes ever day for 4 days, the whole routine, just to be sure. I went back on the 4th day and my water STILL tested good, so brought home 2 adult mollies and 6 baby mollies.
They all died within a week. The babies lasted longer than the adults. What could be going on if the water tests fine and the pleco is thriving?
