can i add 3 female bettas and 1 queen loach to a heavily planted 18 gal containing 1 f. betta and 3 loaches?

the loach species are relatively small: zebra (striata), yoyo and ladder, all between 2-3″. they’ve formed a shoal but the alpha is still a little agro so i think one more would help curb aggression. same reasoning goes behind wanting 4 f. bettas. since bettas are usually top and loaches are bottom, is an 18 gal allright for this? i know the queen loach can get up to 6″.

Is this water safe for a Betta?

I’m looking to get a Siamese Fighting Fish on my desk at work. The tank it’ll be in is aprox 10L and will be refilled with water from our water dispenser in the office. I know this is chilled so the water will be sitting for a day before being poured in to ensure it’s a room temperature.

AFAIK the PH level is perfect but I’m not sure on the others. I don’t know whether chloride is chlorine or what..? Lol

Anyway.. It’ll be the fish on it’s own, a small plant and nothing else.

Calcium 117,5 mg/l
Magnesium 1,9 mg/l
Potassium 1,3 mg/l
Sodium 9,7 mg/l
Chloride 18,0 mg/l
Sulphate 8,0 mg/l
pH 7,6

Thanks,
Matt.
Kate – Thanks I’ll have a look at that.

Wolf – Yeah good idea, I’ll do that!

Cat – Yes it does but to be honest… I wouldn’t even drink from it lol. I know a fish is more than a decoration but it’s something I feel would be a nice addition. I have both coldwater and tropical fish at home and have done for years, I’ve just never used water like this.

I’ve read a lot on these fish and know that it can survive with water changes alone in a smaller tank. I had one in a smaller tank for a while and it seemed happy. Was always moving about and didn’t hesitate to eat food or anything.

Community Tank Problems?

Ok, I have just aquired a 40 gallon tank and have it set up with live plants, heated, etc.. I currently have a male betta and some corydoras. I want to add some cool fish that are of decent size (but won’t kill my betta, he’s been a good guy). I was about to get angels or gourami but heard they might be too aggressive.

What might some good fish be for this set up? I am debating putting the betta elsewhere and getting cichlids or something like that. Also I am REALLY fond of Clown Loaches, but don’t think it would be fair for them in a tank smaller than 75 gallons. Would a Yoyo (Pakistani) Loach be okay in this set up?

Any suggestions? I just want a nice, neat tank to view while keeping all my fish happy and healthy.
Thanks!

Perfect Aquarium Fish, two questions?

Okay, I have a 8 gallon tank that is holding my Betta fish (male), I want to know if you think about 3-4 neon tetras are okay to put in there, I have done it before in a 5 gallon tank but my Betta was picked on. I think they should be fine, plus there are many places for my betta or neons to hide.

Also, I have a 4 gallon tank for my boyfriend and we were wondering what were good fish to keep in there.
I was thinking 2 black mollies or some neons, maybe just feeders.

Let me know what you think.

I have been around fish a lot, and I just want everyones opinon before I buy them, but I am not stupid. Just wanna make sure I am not wasting my money or the life of a fish.

ALSO no crabs, frogs or catfish.

True or False?
