What is the best animal to put in a tank with a Beta fish to control algae?
I have an aggressive male betta that already killed a snail that was in the tank. I like having the plant in the 2.5 gallon tank with him, but the algae is crazy. I only keep the light on about 5-6 hrs a day. Based on what he did to the snail, another fish might be out of the question.
Do animals suffer pain and fear of dying? Also fish and birds. Do they?
I’m an animal lover and have raised puppies, cockatiels, budgies and had a Beta Fish that died in the past few years. 2 puppies died and they cried in pain. The birds showed suffering when they died. Even new hatched baby birds that I tried to rescue acted like they didn’t want to die or cried in pain when hurt. I asked my vet but he said the dog that seemed to be in pain was just coming out of surgery, being nutered, and was druggy. I’m a Christian and know people have a soul but do all God’s creatures feel pain and suffering like people do? I wonder?
Male Beta fish….?
My 6 yo son has a male beta fish in a small tank w/a bubbler. Does anyone know what we could put in the tank to clean it? Some type of fish, crab or something that will clean up the tank so he doesn’t have to clean it so often…and the male betta will not kill or attack the cleaner.
Any help please.
Too many bubbles on top of beta tank. Is that ok?? Thank you for your replys!!?
There are so many bubbles that it looks like its hard for the fish to even get air or food when we feed him. Called petco and they said it is normal and making nest. To me, it looks like the pump is working to strong and making too many bubbles. Do you think it is healthy for the fish? I turn it off now for a while so he can go to the top and eat also. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Not that much luck in the past with betas. This time we have a crown beta.
Where did he go?
Last night I went to go feed my beta fish and he was gone. No trace of him could be found. Tore apart the fish tank, looked all around to see if he had jumped out. Nada. No sign of him anywhere. I know that fish jump out of tanks all the time, but this one never did. He barely swam around much less jumped. (he was lazy). Any clues to what could have happened.
No I don’t have a cat……and I live with my boyfriend and he’s out of town. It’s not a regular fish tank, it’s just a huge bowl with rocks and a plant in it.
Ok, the bowl isn’t that huge, its a medium size wide body vase. with of course rocks on the bottom and a red plant in the middle. No lid, no cat, no filter, no siblings, no interferences. there’s no furniture close enough for it to make it to. Picked up everything around the tank and probably within a 5 foot area. it sits on the bar. behind the bar is the kitchen sink, the only drain it could have gone down is the garbage disposal. anything else? let me know.
