Loading ...Cichlid or Tropical fish?
i want to get either tropical or cichlids and i want to know which is more fancy and bright. i also would like your opinions on which one you prefer. and what are small, bright and colorful breed for both cichlids and tropicals? thx!!

The tanks will look totally different. A community tropical tank will have a lot of plants and a lot of small fish a cichlid tank will have very few if no plants and a lot of large rocks that create caves. A cichlid tank will only have a few large fish.
There are some dwarf cichlids such as german rams that can live with community fish like cory cats and tetras.

Rams do well with angels as well.
You can also find some small africans 4″ or so- like the bumblebee. These are much more aggressive than the rams and angel cichids.

I think cichlids are far more interesting than community tropical.

I agree with the above post.
Cichlids have way more personality and can be very amusing fish to watch and also play with, just be careful what you mix with what and be aware that the fish you see in the pet shop are probably going to get a lot bigger!

tropicals are the brighter. the problem with cichlids are they are aggressive…unfortunately, if you are talking about saltwater tropical, it is more upkeep and expensive.

most of your cichlids aroing to get larger in size , i personally have blood parrots which are in the cichlid family they are bright in color also called jellybean fish b/c they come in an assortment of colors , on your tropicals you have to regulate the ph in the tank around 7.0 on the cichlids can take up to 7.2 to 7.4 which is normally tap water so that would be easier. your tetras , platys and mollies are going to be your smaller tropicals that do have color
