5 gallon tank fish?? Please answer!!!?

I’ve asked tons of questions about “trainable” fish for a five gallon tank that will prove the 5 second memory myth wrong. I know it’s been busted but my science teacher doesn’t know that. No one is giving me an answer I like, really. My answers were goldfish (I know they produce a lot of waste so I won’t get one) and a betta (which I think is a little overused). I’ve come up with 4 conclusions, and all are pushing my luck a little considering a mere 5 gallon tank (but that’s all I have). My final options are: golden wonder killifish, red tail shark, paradise fish, and kribensis cichlid. Whichever is chosen will have the five gallon to itself. Unless you tell me to add something. Another suggestion is given ![]()

I wouldn’t put any of your chosen fish in a five gallon tank except for the paradise fish.
Your best bet would be a betta fish. Even if they are “overused” your teacher won’t know.

You may not like it, but the betta or killifish is about the only thing that you cankeep in such a small tank. Maybe the paradise fish too.

For a five gallon tank you are limited BUT there are still options as long as you have a a tank with filter etc. If you have a bowl the only fish you could get are bettas. Although they are not fish you could get shrimp or African Dwarf Frogs.
In a five gallon tank you could do the same as what you could do with the bowl ^^ and a few more. You could do the killifish in this size.
Your best chance would be a betta to train. In my house we have one in a bowl that we have “trained” to jump for food and it “recognizes” us when we walk by. Your teacher could say this is instinct and in a way she is right but it does show memory over five seconds.
The only fish i have seen being traIned to play soccer, swim through rings etc. are goldfish. For small goldfish you need at least ten and for bigger ones at least 20g.
For your 5 gallon I would definetly, positivly, 100% get a betta.
If you uprgrade to bigger tank I would get goldfish (only because they are known to learn tricks)
A few small killifish could work
