Bullhead catfish in 20 gallon aquarium?

Do you think this would work well? I know bulheads don’t get very big, so i thought I’d try one of them in an aquarium instead of a channel or small flathead. What’s your opinion? And is 20 gallons big enough?

I wouldn’t take any native fish and try to raise them, but that’s just me. Plus you might have to check with your local laws to make sure it’s even legal to keep them in a home aquarium.
From the one site I was reading (see source link), “Adults are almost always medium-sized, averaging eight to 14 inches in length. However, channel catfish can reach over 20 inches in length and 25 pounds in weight in certain waters.” If that bodes true, your 20-gallon tank will be way too small for such a fish. You should look into at least a 55-gallon for a fish that size, but I’d look for bigger if I were you.

a bullhead still gets way too big for a 20 gallon tank, you need at least 55 gallons if you intend on keeping the fish for any significant amount of time.

i raised a bullhead when i was a kid.he started out as about a 3/4 inch fingerling.i had him for over 15 years.i kept him in a 150 gallon tank and finally had to release him after over 15 years of captivity because he had outgrown the tank.he was nearly 46 inches long and weighed more than 30 lbs.if you plan on keeping a bullhead, a twenty gallon tank will never suffice.
