I have just change Arowana’s fish tank from 2 feet to 3 feet yesterday. As usual, I add anti-chorine and crystal clear solution in the water. But my Arowana don’t seems to be comfortable and refuse to eat anything. Usually my Arowana would dash for the food….. and it don’t swim actively as usual too. How could had happened to it? What can I do about it? Please help…….

Your arrowana is under stress because of the new water condition. First and most important thing to do is check the water hardness and PH. Fresh water is hard and has a high PH level which will cause stress, so add quater tank reverse osmosis water to your aquarium to soften the water and add PH down to 6.5 to buffer the PH. Reverse osmosis filters can be found at your local pet store, home depot, water supply store or just buy a jug of RO water from your local water supply store. PH down can be found at your local pet store which comes with a PH buffer sheet. Trust me, this will help your arrowana as I encountered the same problem when I had my first arrowana. You must do this ASAP. Always check the PH and hardness after any water change.

he is just like other fishes and nerous for a few days after a move.

BTW your stunting him in a 3 feet tank, thats not what silver arowanas need.

Ditto to BettaChris, on the acclimizing to a new enviroment. I would not worry about the eating for the time being. I feel he’s just getting a feel for his new home is all. I do agree that you cannot keep this fish in a 3 foot tank long term. This fish will grow fast and a few months is about the maximum amount of time you should keep him in there. You really do need a tank about double that size, minimum would be a 180 but if you can get bigger, that would be better. You’re Arowana could go a week without eating and be fine. Does he have tank mates however? You’ll want to keep offering him food for a few days on the surface to discourage him from looking at his tank mates as a food source. And get that large tank as soon as possible.
